Honeybourne Flood Risk Assessment

honeybourneThe centre of the village of Honeybourne floods on a regular basis affecting a number of residential properties, a pub and the main highway through the village. As part of a proposal to develop a new housing site Francis Sant were commissioned to assess the flood risk and to investigate potential methods of reducing the reducing the risk and the impact. As part of the project a 2D hydrological model was constructed incorporating a number of streams in the area along with the associated fluvial structures TUFLOW. A cost affective and simple solution was found that removed 60% of the properties from the 1 in 100 year flood zone and significantly reduced the impact of flooding elsewhere which was endorsed by the Environment Agency.

In addition a water management report (containing information on sustainable drainage as well as the risk of flooding from various sources) was prepared for the proposed site.
